"At the end of the day it's art and all art should be appreciated no matter the canvas."
-Raymond Baxley
As you can see, from the survey provided on the Get Involved portion of this site, many more people have had no issue getting a job than those who have.
This shows that in today's world having tattoos and piercings isn't as much of a problem in the working world, opening up the world for self expression through body modification for more people. Because now your personal decisions concerning your body are much less condemnable when it comes to your income. |
"Each mark is a story about something significant in my life, it makes up all the parts of me. Past, present and future, and I think I turned out pretty awesome."
-Alabaster
This graph, from the same aforementioned survey is the data results of wether or not modified people would be open to letting their children do the same.
There are absolutly NO responses stating they would be against their children altering their bodies, but the majority of the results say that as parents they would be open to it, as long as their children are responsible about their decisions. This illustrates that people are obviously thinking about the permanent decisions they make about their modifications, and are creating and maintaining this very educated culture about what is and isn't safe. |
"In the nineties if you had one or two visible tattoos, and (as a male) had maybe one or two hoop earring, you couldn't maintain a job that would allow a sustainable existence w/o having to fight your way into the job market. Your interview would have to be over the top impressive...In that era someone like me with nine visible piercings, and four visible tattoos had to work two to sometimes three jobs to survive. Now, in the second decade of the twenty-first century you have to do a hell of a lot more to your body then that to truly 'prevent' yourself from getting work you can survive on, and be proud of in 'most' job markets." -Joe Schweitzer(35)
